Things That Got Lost In Time

I've been having this post in draft since long time ago. I wrote it at almost midnight, just minutes before the Sunday ended. I started out with something, but then it went all over the place. I lost my train of thoughts and that topic got lost in time. So then I thought, should we talk about things that got lost in time instead? I think we should. This is my opinion.

I always imagine time as something so real that it has its own shape and speed. It must be something so important that Allah SWT takes oath on time in Surah Al-Ashr. As astounding as it is, there's only so much we can comprehend about it. We can experience it with our whole set of senses, and record it in the form of memories. But even that can not keep it from passing at a tremendous speed. As much as we try to keep the precious trail of time, some part of it will eventually slip away.

Time is a maze. A maze of which upon taking a wrong turn, we can't go back. If we try to come back, we'll end up losing more on what's ahead of us. The time we lost, will be the debt we will not be able to fully repay. Time is complicated, no wonder things got lost in it all the time.

Sometimes I'm drowned in the stream of time. There are times when I was at loss. If I could, I would like to pick up some things that I've lost. Things that fell from my grip while going down the path of reality. But life is what it is now. We can try to make the most out of what's left of it. No use of regretting things for too long.

Things being lost in time does not always necessarily mean a bad thing. There are also things that time keeps away from us, more and more as it passes. It keeps us from being too hard on ourselves while dealing with those things.

Clearly, time is astounding. Time is a maze, time is an uncharted world. We don't know what's ahead of us. But Allah knows, Allah takes oath on it, and in Allah we trust.

Wow it got more serious than I expected. Thought I was gonna talk about forgetting things. Okay, I didn't actually mention the particular things that got lost in time. But everybody knows what those are. Everybody knows their own things that has got lost in time. Everybody has at least one, I mean, right? Or is it just me?
